Common uses
Transderm-Scop is an anticholinergic used to prevent nausea and vomiting associated with motion sickness.

Before using
Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with Transderm-Scop. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION may be needed if you are taking medicine for emotional or mood disorders (phenothiazines). Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. USE OF Transderm-Scop IS NOT RECOMMENDED if you have a history of megacolon. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about using Transderm-Scop.

Follow the directions for using Transderm-Scop provided by your doctor. Transderm-Scop comes with a patient information leaflet. Read it carefully. Ask your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist any questions that you may have about Transderm-Scop. Wear only 1 patch at a time. Apply the patch to a hairless area of skin behind 1 ear. Do not apply the patch to irritated skin. Wash your hands thoroughly after applying the patch. IF THE PATCH BECOMES LOOSE, remove it and apply a new patch behind the other ear. REMOVE THE PATCH after 3 days. DISCARD the patch by folding the sticky sides together and placing in a trash can that is out of reach of children or pets. STORE Transderm-Scop at room temperature, away from heat and light.

DO NOT USE Transderm-Scop if you have had an allergic reaction to it or are allergic to any ingredient in Transderm-Scop. Transderm-Scop MAY CAUSE drowsiness or blurred vision. Do not drive, operate machinery, or do anything else that could be dangerous until you know how you react to Transderm-Scop. Using Transderm-Scop alone, with other medicines, or with alcohol may lessen your ability to drive or to perform other potentially dangerous tasks. Transderm-Scop WILL ADD TO THE EFFECTS of alcohol and other depressants. Ask your pharmacist if you have questions about which medicines are depressants. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. DO NOT BECOME OVERHEATED in hot weather or during exercise or other activities since heat stroke may occur while you are using Transderm-Scop. Transderm-Scop MAY MAKE YOUR EYES sensitive to bright light. Wearing sunglasses may help. DO NOT GET Transderm-Scop in your eyes. SKIN BURNS MAY OCCUR if this patch is worn during a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan. If you will be having an MRI, tell your doctor that you use Transderm-Scop. You will need to remove the patch before having the MRI. FOR WOMEN: IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using Transderm-Scop during pregnancy. IT IS UNKNOWN IF Transderm-Scop IS EXCRETED in breast milk. DO NOT BREAST-FEED while taking this medicine.

Possible side effects
SIDE EFFECTS, that may go away during treatment include dry mouth, drowsiness, or blurred vision. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience difficulty urinating or skin irritation. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.

If you take too much
If overdose is suspected, remove the patch. Contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include disorientation, memory disturbances, dizziness, restlessness, hallucinations, and confusion. Remove patch immediately if these symptoms occur.

DO NOT SHARE Transderm-Scop with others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT USE Transderm-Scop for other health conditions. KEEP Transderm-Scop out of the reach of children.
