How to Increase the Fiber in Your Diet
The
best way to increase the amount of fiber in your diet is a gradual procession,
sometimes over a number of weeks. Make sure you drink plenty of fluids.
Fiber acts as a bulking agent; it absorbs some of the fluid in your
body. Keeping our body well hydrated helps the bulky mass pass easily
and comfortably out of your system. The following are some helpful hints
for increasing your fiber intake:
1. Carefully read nutrition
labels. Good sources of fiber contain 2.5 grams or more.
2. Jump-start your morning
with a high-fiber cereal.
3. Add a little wheat bran
to your cereal, salad, yogurt or cottage cheese.
4. Add fresh fruits and
vegetables to cereal, waffles, yogurt, salads, soup, pizza, sandwiches,
stir-fry?s, omelets, etc.
5. Cook with beans and
lentils. Add them to salads, burritos, etc.
