Easy Squeezies
It’s a proven fact
that over 75% of us are not eating our RDA of fruits and vegetable.
Here are some easy ways to squeeze in some extra servings:
1. Make a smoothie - a
fruit smoothie for breakfast or a snack is a delicious way to freshen
up your fruit intake and best of all, it’s portable! If you can’t find
any fresh fruits to make one with, try frozen or canned.
2. Try bananas or fresh
berries on your cereal, pancakes, yogurt or sorbet.
3. Keep a box of raisins
or other dried fruit handy. They’re a quick and healthy sweet treat.
4. Texturize your salad
- don’t just go for boring old lettuce and dressing; toss in some raw
broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, raisins and cranberries!
5. Steam or saut? some
colorful veggies to jazz up plain rice.
6. Top potatoes with diced
tri-color peppers and chopped broccoli rather than cheese or sour cream.
7. Add chopped veggies
to omelets, soups, stews, sandwiches and pizza.
8. Add fruit instead of
fat to your baked goods. Pureed fruit will give you moisture and volume
like fat will, but in a healthier way.
