Chemical Name: FLUOCINONIDE (floo-oh-SIN-on-nide)
Fluocinonide is a corticosteroid used to reduce itching, redness, and swelling associated with many skin conditions.
INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION may be needed if you are taking prednisone (or similar medicines). Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding.
Follow the directions for using Fluocinonide provided by your doctor. TO USE Fluocinonide: apply a small amount of medicine to the affected area. Gently rub Fluocinonide in until it is evenly distributed. Wash your hands after applying Fluocinonide, unless your hands are part of treated area. DO NOT BANDAGE OR WRAP the affected area unless directed otherwise by your doctor. STORE Fluocinonide at room temperature, away from heat and light. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF Fluocinonide, apply it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule.
DO NOT TAKE Fluocinonide if you have had an allergic reaction to it or are allergic to any ingredient in Fluocinonide. IF YOUR SYMPTOMS DO NOT IMPROVE WITHIN A FEW DAYS, or if they become worse, check with your doctor. DO NOT EXCEED THE RECOMMENDED DOSE or use Fluocinonide for longer than prescribed without checking with your doctor. KEEP ALL DOCTOR AND LABORATORY APPOINTMENTS while you are using Fluocinonide. Do not use any other medicines or special cleansers on your skin unless your doctor instructs you otherwise. AVOID GETTING Fluocinonide IN YOUR EYES or on the inside of your nose or mouth. CAUTION IS ADVISED WHEN USING Fluocinonide IN CHILDREN because they may be more sensitive to the effects of Fluocinonide. FOR WOMEN: IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using Fluocinonide during pregnancy. IT IS UNKNOWN IF Fluocinonide IS EXCRETED in breast milk. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING while you are using Fluocinonide, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.
Possible side effects
CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience skin thinning and discoloration, stinging, rash, dry skin, itching, burning, redness, or swelling not present before using Fluocinonide. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
If you take too much
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Fluocinonide may be harmful if swallowed.
DO NOT SHARE Fluocinonide with others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT USE Fluocinonide for other health conditions. KEEP Fluocinonide out of the reach of children. IF USING Fluocinonide FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, obtain refills before your supply runs out.
