Folic Acid is a vitamin used to treat or prevent certain types of anemia due to folic acid deficiency. Folic Acid may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with Folic Acid. Inform your doctor or pharmacist of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking.
DO NOT TAKE Folic Acid if you are also taking fluorouracil. Additional monitoring of your dose or condition may be needed if you are taking medicine for seizures. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about using Folic Acid.
Follow the directions for using Folic Acid provided by your doctor or on the package.
STORE Folic Acid at room temperature in a tightly-closed container, away from heat and light.
IF YOU MISS TAKING A DOSE OF Folic Acid, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do NOT take 2 doses at once.
DO NOT EXCEED THE RECOMMENDED DOSE of Folic Acid. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist.
CHECK ANY OTHER VITAMIN PRODUCTS you may be taking for folic acid content. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if any other medicines that you take contain folic acid.
Possible side effects
CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience rash or itching. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
If you take too much
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
DO NOT SHARE Folic Acid with others for whom it was not prescribed.
DO NOT USE Folic Acid for other health conditions.
KEEP Folic Acid out of the reach of children.
IF USING Folic Acid FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, obtain refills before your supply runs out.
