Chemical Name: ALBUTEROL (al-BYOO-ter-ole) and IPRATROPIUM BROMIDE (i-pra-TROE-pee-um
BROE-mide)
This medicine is a beta receptor stimulant and a bronchodilator combination used
to treat symptoms (bronchospasms) in patients with lung disease (chronic
obstructive pulmonary disease or COPD).
Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with this medicine. INFORM
YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that
you are taking. DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE if you are also taking or have taken
in the last 2 weeks a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOIs). ADDITIONAL MONITORING
OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION may be needed if you are taking atropine, benztropine,
dicyclomine, hyoscyamine, oxybutynin, tolterodine, trihexyphenidyl,
beta-blockers (e.g., propranolol), or certain water pills (e.g., furosemide, or
thiazides). Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, allergies,
pregnancy, or breast-feeding. ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION
may be needed if you have high blood pressure, irregular heartbeat, heart
failure, seizures, thyroid problems, glaucoma, low potassium levels, or bladder
or prostate problems. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any
questions or concerns about taking this medicine.
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. THIS
MEDICINE COMES with a patient information leaflet. Ask your doctor, nurse, or
pharmacist any questions that you may have about this medicine. This medicine is
used in a nebulizer. STORE THIS MEDICINE between 36 and 77 degrees F (2 and 25
degrees C), away from heat and light. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE and
you are using it regularly, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for
your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing
schedule.
DO NOT EXCEED THE RECOMMENDED DOSE without checking with your doctor. If your
symptoms do not improve or they become worse, check with your doctor. KEEP ALL
DOCTOR AND LABORATORY APPOINTMENTS while you are using this medicine. THIS
MEDICINE MAY CAUSE DIZZINESS or blurred vision. Do not drive, operate machinery,
or do anything else that could be dangerous until you know how you react to this
medicine. AVOID GETTING THIS MEDICINE in your eyes. THIS MEDICINE MAY CAUSE dry
mouth or an unpleasant taste in your mouth. To prevent dry mouth, rinse your
mouth and gargle after using this medicine. If you experience dry mouth, use
sugarless gum or candy, or melt bits of ice in your mouth. If dry mouth persists
for more than 2 weeks, contact your doctor or dentist. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING
ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your
doctor or pharmacist. This includes any medicines which contain pseudoephedrine.
FOR WOMEN: IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the
benefits and risks of using this medicine during pregnancy. IT IS UNKNOWN IF
THIS MEDICINE IS EXCRETED in breast milk. DO NOT BREAST-FEED while taking this
medicine.
SIDE EFFECTS, that may go away during treatment, include dry mouth, nausea,
diarrhea, blurred vision, constipation and drowsiness. If they continue or are
bothersome, check with your doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
if you experience sore throat, heartburn, leg cramps, or eye pain. CHECK WITH
YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience swelling of the face, eyes, lips or
tongue; rash, hives, itching, wheezing, difficulty breathing, chest pain or fast
or irregular heartbeat. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact
your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
Drug interactions can result in unwanted side effects or prevent a medicine from

IF OVERDOSE IS SUSPECTED, contact your local poison control center or emergency
room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include chest pain, fast or irregular
heartbeat, tremors, seizures, nervousness, sleeplessness, weakness, and
dizziness.
If your symptoms do not improve or if they become worse, check with your doctor.
Carry an identification card at all times that states you are taking this
medicine. DO NOT SHARE THIS MEDICINE with others for whom it was not prescribed.
DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE for other health conditions. KEEP THIS MEDICINE out of
the reach of children. IF USING THIS MEDICINE FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME,
obtain refills before your supply runs out.
